Becoming a DAR Member
We welcome women who want to participate in the historical, educational, and patriotic activities of the DAR.
Membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a unique opportunity to establish lineage and heritage as a descendant of a Revolutionary War patriot. Volunteering through the DAR is an effective way to honor our Revolutionary War patriot ancestors, recognize their roles in establishing the United States of America, and carry forth their purpose of American freedom. You must prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor by providing documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death, as well as of the Revolutionary War service of your patriot ancestor.

Beginning Your Research
The DAR Genealogical Research System (GRS) is an outstanding resource. The GRS is a combination of several extensive genealogical databases and contains names of Revolutionary War patriots whose service between 1775 and 1783 has been established by DAR members. Additional information available may include:
- Dates and places of birth and death
- Name(s) of spouse(s) and children
- Rank
- Type of service
- State where the patriot served
Our chapter registrar can help you access existing information and guide you to additional sources. Visit the NSDAR site for more information.
